Copyright in the Digicenter

Furman has already established itself as an institution concerned with maintaining copyright standards and law, and the center recognizes and upholds these standards. For detailed information, please download the Digicenter's copyright statement (PDF format).

Those interested in including digital objects in LUNA should know the copyright status of the media to be digitized. When necessary, the Digicenter can help determine copyright information to the best of our abilitiy. The majority of our work should be protected under fair use guidelines, as it is for educational purposes and will be made available only to the Furman Community (with rare exceptions). If a user is interested in contributing content to LUNA and is unsure if the media falls under fair use, a checklist from the University of Indiana may help.

When available, copyright and publisher information for each digital object will be included in its metadata. Additionally, a small, non-intrusive copyright state will be added to the bottom of each image that may be copyrighted.
